Chocolaterie de Puyricard: new handmade chocolates in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

The Chocolaterie de Puyricard opens its new store in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, perpetuating a Provençal and family know-how around chocolate.

From Congo to Puyricard

The history of the Chocolaterie de Puyricard began in the 1960s in Congo. Jan-Guy Roelandts gave a mission to his wife, Marie-Anne: to learn the art of chocolate in order to hope to have the means to leave the country where the situation was unstable. She quickly drew inspiration from Belgian know-how during her training, but quickly created her own recipes for lower-fat and sweetened chocolates, which would later characterize the essence of the brand. She named her first two creations after her daughters: Christelle and Isabelle.

Birth of the Puyricard House

In 1967, the Roelandts family moved to France, near Aix-en-Provence, in a small village called Puyricard. It was in a former materials factory that they decided to build their workshop and the first store. It is in honor of this new landscape that welcomes them that they decided to call their chocolate factory “Puyricard”.

A family story

Tanguy Roelandts, son of Jan-Guy and Marie-Anne, took over the management of the house in 1995. Bathed in chocolate know-how since childhood, he takes particular care to maintain the traditional methods that have made chocolate making famous. He will be joined in 2017 by his daughter, Solène, who will become president of the Chocolaterie de Puyricard in 2022, proudly carrying the values of this family adventure.

Quality as a priority

Recognized for its small chocolates without preservatives produced using traditional techniques, the Chocolaterie de Puyricard has expanded its range over the years. In 1975, the famous calissons, an essential delicacy in Provence, and chocolate truffles, delicacies that have now become iconic of the brand, joined the catalog.

Today, the range is rich and varied: in addition to traditional chocolates, Puyricard offers beggars, 100% original tablets, candied fruits covered in chocolate and marshmallows.
