Cycle Route No. 10: From the source to the Venice of Comtat

The great sights of the Sorgue await you on an easy bike ride alongside the river. This 21-km route takes you around Partage des Eaux and the Fontaine-de-Vaucluse Chasm.

Setting off from Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, nicknamed the Venice of Comtat, to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, where the source of the Sorgue bubbles out of the ground, by way of the hilltop village of Saumane-de-Vaucluse, take the opportunity to admire the landscapes carved out by this unique Provençal river.

This is the perfect outing to discover the Sorgue's treasures.

After the canals and waterwheels of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, discover the plain with its orchards and cultivated fields where fruit and vegetables grow in abundance. When you reach Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, pause for a rest in the shade of the ancient plane trees alongside the Sorgue. And be sure to admire the source of the Sorgue!

On the way back to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue you have the option, if you wish, to visit the hilltop village of Saumane-de-Vaucluse. The sight of the village appearing before your eyes will be your just reward for riding 2.5 km uphill. In the summer season, you can also visit the château that was once home to the Marquis of Sade.
