Isle sur la Sorgue Tourism: nature as a standard!

Being “green” is no longer a trend, a position or even our own beliefs, it is obvious to us, as an obvious fact that we have neglected for too long, as a new way of living and (re) feeling the territory for which we all have to win!

This is how we wanted to introduce our article, which is somewhat focused on a better world, a world where everyone, in their own way, respects and values the resources that surround us. And they are numerous and precious on our territory!
At Isle sur la Sorgue Tourisme, we are not irreproachable but we strive to be so, day after day, through our actions with local actors, residents and visitors. Indeed, in order to take action and preserve our environment, we must first perceive and understand it. Starting with:

Highlighting our natural jewels in the heart of naturally authentic Provence

La Sorgue — “And in the middle flows a river”

The Sorgue has its source at the Fontaine de Vaucluse, which is one of the most important exsurgencies in the world. The rainwater collection area (impluvium) that will, one day, feed the Fontaine de Vaucluse is huge with an area of about 1,200 km².
The Sorgue is thus one of the rare rivers in Provence to benefit from fresh water all year round (between 12 and 14°C), even at the height of summer.
Regular monitoring of water quality is carried out by the Syndicat Mixte du Bassin des Sorgues. The very good quality of Sorgue Amont has recently allowed it to obtain the Rivière label in good condition.

The Monts de Vaucluse — “Discreet between Mont Ventoux and Luberon”

“Stuck” between Mont Ventoux and the Luberon, a few steps from L'Isle sur la Sorgue, the Monts de Vaucluse do not have the reputation of the latter but are also full of promises and offer breathtaking panoramas! A picturesque and charming nature destination in the heart of these mountains following various marked hiking trails.
Hiking and cycling trails start from magnificent villages and cross mythical places such as the Plague Wall or the vertiginous valleys of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Here is the magic of authentic Provence. (Attention access restrictions from June 15 to September 15)

All these contrasts on such a small territory make it a unique and admirable mosaic. Around here, the link between people and nature is characterized by a very strong sense of belonging to these lands that are so generous and harsh at the same time.

Engaged and “eco-conscious” women and men

Following these few lines of awareness-raising, we wanted to highlight some men and women of the region, who, in their own way, are contributing to a better world (this list is not exhaustive).

Camping La Sorguette
Emilie Hédiard, responsible for the campsite, alone embodies all the values that we want to promote. More than a lifestyle, it is obvious for her to offer accommodation that respects its environment or is even eco-designed for more than 40 years. We highly recommend it!

The Restaurant Le Phileas
headed by chef Morgan Yvon, who, naturally, offers, depending on the seasons, products sourced in short circuits. From strawberries from Carpentras to the pig from Ventoux or trout from Sorgue by the famous Meyer, it's an explosion of flavors that is so typical of our region. To be tested without fail!

Domaine Trélus
The brand new 16-hectare family estate managed by the Tamisier family (famous organic apple farmers just a stone's throw away), is starting this ambitious wine project in the Vaucluse mountains. The vines are all worked organically and biodynamically (Demeter) while respecting biodiversity, soil life, flora and fauna. The cellar and the cellar are inaugurated for the 2023 season. To be enjoyed without delay!

The tree-climbing course Passerelle des Cîmes
What better way to raise awareness among young minds than when you offer an activity in the heart of nature! This tree climbing course, a stone's throw from Fontaine de Vaucluse, at the foot of Saumane de Vaucluse and 3 minutes from L'Isle sur la Sorgue, is a recommended stopover for thrill seekers and nature lovers. Its particularity is its location in a typical Provençal pine forest with respect for the environment that surrounds it. Let's go!

Live our territory responsibly and share your experience with #islesurlasorguetourisme.
