Sandra and Urs Baumgartner welcome you to the “VILLA VELLERON”! Our charming guest house is a haven of peace and a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of daily life in the heart of Provence, in the south of the Rhône Valley.
Villa Velleron, located in the old village of Velleron, a typical and non-tourist Provençal village, is the perfect starting point for excursions in the near and far surroundings or as a stopover during a tourist circuit. Our beautiful village house is a little secret. In a 17th century olive mill, our guests have the choice between five individually and stylishly furnished rooms and a comfortable apartment. A shaded courtyard, a crystal-clear swimming pool, a romantic terrace and a Provençal garden complete this idyllic setting in the heart of the lively old town of Velleron.
Some days, in addition to the hearty French breakfast, we offer dinners at the table d'hotes. With a regional and seasonal menu, based on products from the Velleron Agricultural Market.
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and our special 'Acceuil Vélo' service (member since 2022) with, among other things, a locked garage, repair aids and electrical sockets for charging electric bikes.
For our guests who do not come with their own bike, we have professional partners in our neighborhood for bike rental with delivery service.
Whether it's a racing bike, a hiking bike, a mountain bike or an electric bike: the surroundings near and far offer numerous possibilities. The website Provence Vélo - Cycling and Mountain Biking Routes for All (provence-radfahren.de) gives an initial idea on this subject. We are happy to advise you before or during your stay in French, German or English.
Velleron is located directly on the 'VIA VENAISSIA Veloroute' (V 861). This itinerary crosses the former Comtat Venaissin (part of Vaucluse) and connects the 'ViaRhôna' (EV17) to the 'Mediterranean' (EV8) via Orange, Carpentras, Pernes-les-Fontaines, Pernes-les-Fontaines, Velleron, Velleron, Isle sur la Sorgues and Robion in the Luberon. This cycle route has been developed in places along the route of the old railway line. The layout is simple and ideal for enjoying magnificent views of the vineyards, Mont Ventoux and the villages.
The 'Voie Verte' no. 11, with a route to Pernes-les-Fontaines and another to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, starts near Villa Velleron. It partly runs along the 'Carpentras Canal' in the hills around Velleron. This bike path offers connections with other bike paths in the region, such as the Luberon cycling circuit, which is about 240 km long. Avignon (with parking options for bikes and luggage as well as a TGV connection) or Fontaine-de-Vaucluse are two examples of destinations that can easily be reached by bike.
The region offers several mountain biking routes, among others starting from Saumane-de-Vaucluse, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or Pernes-Les-Fontaines, or several routes directly into the hills near Velleron.
Velleron is also within easy reach of the ultimate challenge for any racing cyclist, Mont Ventoux.
What is the best time to bike in our region. In February, nature wakes up with the blossoming of almond trees. Until May, temperatures generally hover between 20 and 25 degrees, just right for long bike rides in a landscape of blossoming fruit trees and herb fields. In May, the poppy fields plunge the landscape into a bright red, or at least provide corresponding touches of color. Summer in Provence is lavender season and is quite hot and dry, often with deep blue skies. From June to September, the rainfall rate is low and temperatures often exceed 30°C during the day. A light wind and sometimes the Mistral wind cool the atmosphere, especially at night. Fall is often described as the most colorful time of year. Temperatures over 25 degrees make staying outside very pleasant. At this time of year, it's possible to catch a downpour. The seasons from the end of March to the end of June and from the end of August to the end of October are described as the best and most enjoyable for cyclists.
