Lucas Gauthier Lurty

Meta description In L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Lucas Gauthier-Lurty restores violins, cellos and antique pianos using traditional craftsmanship.

A workshop dedicated to string instruments and pianos

Located in the heart of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Lucas Gauthier-Lurty accompanies amateur and professional musicians in the maintenance, restoration and adjustment of their instruments. Trained at the École Nationale de Lutherie de Mirecourt and a graduate of the Compagnons du Tour de France in art cabinetmaking, he perpetuates demanding artisanal techniques in the service of sound and musicality.

In his workshop-boutique, he works on quartet instruments — violins, violas, cellos and double bass — as well as on antique and contemporary pianos. Each intervention is carried out meticulously in order to preserve the acoustic qualities and the identity of the instrument.

The workshop is also a great stop for visitors who are sensitive to crafts and the world of live music during a stay in Provence.

Lucas Gauthier-Lurty does a job of flipoting and stamp varnish on a Gaveau upright piano dating from 1912. This artisanal intervention makes it possible to restore wooden surfaces while respecting traditional cabinetmaking techniques and the authenticity of the ancient instrument.

Artisanal know-how at the service of musical heritage

Tuning, complete restoration, fine adjustments or reconditioning: each instrument benefits from a tailor-made approach that favors sustainable repair rather than systematic replacement. This artisanal philosophy makes it possible to extend the life of instruments while respecting their history and their original materials.

The workshop also hosts a selection of antique furniture restored using traditional cabinetmaking techniques. This unique place combines musical heritage, excellent craftsmanship and a passion for manual work in an authentic and warm atmosphere.

An address for lovers of music and crafts

A few steps from the antique shops and galleries that make L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue famous, Lucas Gauthier-Lurty's workshop is a natural part of the world of fine crafts and local heritage. Musicians, collectors or simply curious people can discover rare know-how, transmitted with rigor and passion.
