In an exceptional setting, the Château de Lourmarin is a Renaissance castle that dominates the village of Lourmarin.
The oldest body of the castle was built in the 15th century by Foulques d'Agoult, on the ruins of a fortress of the twelfth century. From 1526, Louis d'Agoult-Montauban and his wife, Blanche de Lévis-Ventadour, raised the Renaissance wing of a remarkable unity of style.
Restored between 1921 and 1923 by the industrialist and patron Robert Laurent-Vibert, it currently houses a cultural foundation. The fully furnished castle is open all year round to visitors and offers many cultural events.
The Château de Lourmarin was registered as Historic Monuments in 1973.
In the south of the Luberon, sheltered from the Mistral, Lourmarin ranked among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France” seduces the visitor with his art of living.
