The Pont du Gard is a part of the aqueduct that originated in Uzès and carried running water for a distance of 50 kilometers to the ancient city of Nîmes.

The slight difference between the starting and arrival points, testifies to the Roman scientific engineering and allowed to supply thermal baths, fountains and gardens with a controlled flow.

49 meters high, the Roman aqueduct bridge is the highest in the world and the only 3-storey antique bridge still standing today.

It took only 5 years to complete this rare achievement for the time, consisting of 3 rows of superimposed arches.

The aqueduct has been classified as a Historic Monument and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
