The cliffs, cirques and hoodoos of Roussillon bear witness to the practice of ochre mining, which began here in the 18th century. The grandiose spectacle formed by the gradually abandoned quarries will thrill and delight visitors seeking a change of scenery. In the village itself, the ochre-coated façades of the houses are completely in harmony with the surrounding landscape.

The Ochre Trail

Several trails will lead you to this outstanding site, with two circuits – one taking 30 minutes, the other 60 – that let you discover the geology, flora and remnants of the former industrial site.

Okhrâ – The Ecomuseum of Ochre

The former Roussillon factory offers you an immersive visit to the world of ochre. An impressive collection of books and ochre pigments are available for purchase in its shop. Themed workshops aimed at a wide audience are also on offer to visitors.
